Mario Lopez not only lost his virginity at 12, but an abortion saved him from becoming a teen dad before joining the cast of Saved by the Bell. The child star admits in a new memoir titled “Just Between Us” that his escapades started the day before his 13th birthday and got serious fast while growing up in California.
“Now that I’m a dad, I look back and think, ‘Oh my God!’ But you’ve got to understand, when you’re growing up in the hood, everybody grows up fast.”
The 40-year-old father of two children said sex was always his “drug of choice,” but that addiction almost produced a child after he got a girl pregnant as a teenager.
The girl chose to end the pregnancy, but that child would have been 25 years old by now.
The memoir also addresses the rumors of infidelity that ended his marriage with Ali Landry two weeks after photos of Lopez with another woman at his bachelor party surfaced.
“I got inebriated and a little too friendly with a young lady,” wrote Lopez in the book co-authored by Steve Santagati. “When it was time to return home, lightning hit me with the truth: I wasn’t in love.”
The X-Factor host also teases readers with tales of having sex about seven years ago with a certain pop-star in Las Vegas, but declines to kiss and tell.
The Lopez memoir was released on Sept. 30, nearly a month after Lifetime debuted the “Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story,” a behind-the-scenes documentary-drama look at the teen cast.
