MILAN FASHION WEEK: Moschino AW16

I know Moschino frequently push the boundries of good taste in their catwalk shows but this was a step further then even they normally go!

I think I liked it.

It was a spectacle of strangeness from layering that shouldn't work, denim knickers, dresses on fire and chandelier gowns but somehow, it came together. I found myself clicking through all 60 looks nodding. Normally I will select the ones I like, get the gist of it and move on. This was something I wanted to keep on clicking though.

I kept looking at all the outfits thinking, it shouldn't work but it does. I don't know how it works but it does. I think maybe its that the color is simple. A strong pop of color near a black is a simple idea that just works for me. I also like a good dose of leather too. Maybe its in that I don't mind a bit of tack every now and again. It can't be worse then some of the shows I saw in London right?

I have to say that Milan is having a moment.

It started with reports on the menswear being greatly improved a few months ago before the main event this week being much more interesting. I find that even the cosmetics are in on it. Collistar (granted an Italian company) have released an Italian collection for summer based on the iconic Italian Fiat 500 and accessories are putting Italian politics on handbags (D&G and the same sex family)

Its nice to see. After season of Milan being the 'breather' in the fashion weeks. You might skip back on looking at the shows because you just had to constantly review London and New York. So you see the main points and move on. I hate to admit that but its true for me. However, this was edgy and something I could easily have seen in London. Which is great.

Although the touches of Italian-ness are there in the over detailing, the love of leather, the simple make up, the showmanship, the style, the layering and the overall presentation of it.

I love it.
