Disaster strikes when you least expect it. Checking out of our Granada hotel yesterday, I failed to navigate around a large cardboard cut out of Humphrey Bogart. My case made contact, went sideways as the cut out toppled over, making me follow suit. Marble floors are never great for regaining balance. Down I went on the unforgiving floor, my hand and wrist taking the load and the side of my head made contact with a wooden cupboard. All in all it could have been worse. Slight bruise on the head, but then I've always been thick sculled! Sprained wrist which has swollen up somewhat today. Hey ho.
Sadly it was my right hand and yes I'm right handed. The last twenty four hours have been a major learning curve on how to manage with one hand. Things I now need help with: washing my hair, drying my hair, cutting up food, taking my watch off, lifting cases onto buses, the list is endless! My long suffering husband has now taken over camera duties although I did manage a few on my iPad this afternoon. Fortunately I can still walk around so life could be much worse.
We are now in Córdoba. Gave up on travelling by train because the coach journey was direct and cheaper. Other than the driver listening to endless babbling voices on his radio ( you can tell I don't speak Spanish:) ) the journey went well. Roads were incredibly quiet along olive and fruit groves. As for Córdoba it's very warm here, touching low 30's C. Lots of cool leafy parks to walk through like Seville and wonderful buildings in the old quarter. I'll leave you with some photos I took in the cathedral this afternoon. Originally a mosque built in the 6 th century it had a Catholic Church inserted in the middle at a much later date. Very strange. As for the first picture of flamenco dresses. This was one of the shops I passed in Granada. Which one would you buy?
