This is one of my favorite Advent hymns. Our family has performed a version of it a few times, together. If I were really ambitious, I might make an audio file and embed it here, but really, it works pretty well just as a poem. . .

The King Shall Come
(translated from Greek by John Brownlie)
The King shall come when morning dawns,
And light triumphant breaks.
When beauty gilds the eastern hills,
And Life to Joy awakes.
Not, as of old, a little child,
To bear and fight and die,
But crowned with glory as the sun
That lights the morning sky!
O brighter than that glorious morn
Shall dawn upon our race,
The day when Christ in glory comes,
And we shall see His face.
The King Shall come when morning dawns,
And light and beauty brings.
Hail, Christ the Lord! Thy people pray,
Come quickly, King of Kings!

"Even so; come, Lord Jesus!"
