Earlier this year, Jane ceased running her magazine "The Competition Grapevine", but that doesn't mean she has stopped entering competitions. She is currently "on a roll", with lots of nice prizes coming in, like this really special set of gardening tools made by Spear and Jackson, which she won in a competition hosted by Grow Your Own magazine. Of course Jane doesn't do any gardening, and the tools have been passed on to me, so I am well pleased!
The set includes a trowel, hand fork, onion hoe and dibber, as well as a full-size spade and fork:

These tools are from Spear and Jackson's Kew Gardens Collection, designed in conjunction with the Royal Botanical Gardens, so they are really good-quality items - probably amongst the best you can get.
The metal parts are made of carbon steel with a hammer finish epoxy coating, and the handles are made of 100% FSC hardwood. Furthermore they are guaranteed for 15 years, so the manufacturers must have a lot of confidence in their products.

The only problem I foresee with these tools is that their advent probably means I should discard some of the tools I already had, many of which are very good too, and much loved, like this fork and spade from Faithfull Tools (which Jane also won for me, by the way!)

It's going to be a tough choice...
